METHOD FOR TESTING FOR INHIBITION OF DRUG-METABOLIZING CYTOCHROME P450 ISOZYMES

A method for the simultaneous testing of the inhibition or induction/activation of major human drug-metabolizing cytochrome P450 isozymes, such as CYP3A4, CYP2D6, CYP2C9, CYP1A2, CYP2C19, CYP2A6, and CYP2C8, by potential drug candidates utilizing a cocktail of specific probe substrates for CYP450 isozymes is described. Also described is a method for determining the phenotype of a cell or a tissue sample by determining the CYP450 isozyme(s) present in the cell or tissue sample using the method of the invention.
