PURPOSE: A telephone advertising apparatus and a method thereof are provided to connect an advertising apparatus between a central office and a point of presence of a telephone and stores the period of time during which an advertisement is delivered by an advertiser in order to receive an advertisement charge upon request from the advertiser. CONSTITUTION: A switch(21) connects an advertisement generation apparatus(20) between a central office(3) and a point of presence(4). A switch(21) switches the connection between the central office(3) and the point of presence(4) by the control of a processor(22). A tone decoder(23) decodes a tone signal of a telephone so that the tone signal can be recognized by the processor(22). A tone generator(24) generates the tone signal recognized by the processor(22). A memory stores the contents of an advertisement. An indicator(26) receives data on an advertising time, call service available time and the like from the processor(22) and indicates them.
