<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high pressure discharge lamp which is capable of substituting a halogen lamp or of which the luminous center position is lower than the halogen lamp, and a lighting device of the high pressure discharge lamp and an illumination device. SOLUTION: The high pressure discharge lamp is equipped with a luminous tube IB comprising a translucent discharge container 1, a pair of electrodes 2A, 2B and discharge medium, an outer tube OB which is made of hard glass of a diameter of 15 mm and less and formed of a pinch seal section ps at one end and houses the luminous tube IB inside, a pair of lead cables CC1, CC2 of which the top end is connected with the luminous tube, of which the middle section is penetrated airtight in the pinch seal section ps of the outer tube and of which the base section is exposed outside, and a screw base B of E11 type or the like which is bounded to the pinch seal section ps of the outer tube OB and has a outer diameter of 8-12 mm. The pair of lead cables CC1, CC2 are directly sealed to the pinch seal section ps. The distance from the top end of the screw base B to the center of the electrodes is established to be 50 mm or less or the distance from the inner end of the pinch section to the center of the electrodes is set at 40 mm or less.</p> |
