The invention relates to a method for determining a leg length difference of a prone person, comprising the steps of: i) determining a reference point substantially along the linea alba; ii) determining an anatomically similar localizing point substantially at the position of a foot of each leg; iii) determining the distance between the reference point and each localizing point; and iv) determining the difference between the two distances as a measure for the leg length difference of the person, and to a device for measuring a leg length difference of a prone person, comprising a frame to be disposed fixedly, wherein the frame is provided with a reference member which can be placed at the position of a reference point arranged on the person substantially along the linea alba, with localizing means which are pivotable round the reference member and which can be placed at the position of localizing points arranged on the prone person at the position of a foot, and with means for determining the distance between the reference member and the localizing means.
