The aim of the invention is to provide especially large devices for producing positively and negatively pulsed magnetic fields at a greatly reduced cost. The invention relates to a circuit which substantially consists of a capacitor battery, a high-field solenoid, a protection choke, a thyristor switch, a crowbar diode, a crowbar resistor, and several separating contacts. The invention is characterised in that: a) only one individual high voltage supply unit (I1) having only one voltage polarity is available to feed the capacitor battery (C1), b) during potential equalisation, the positive terminal of the capacitor battery (C1) is connected to the earth by means of a high-impedance resistance (RX), c) a circuit comprising several separating contacts which are used to rearrange said circuit is located between the capacitor battery (C1) and the high-field solenoid (L1) in such a way that the input pertaining to the thyristor switch (X1) which is used to produce the positively or negatively pulsed magnetic field can be connected to the respective live terminal of the capacitor battery (C1) as opposed to the earth terminal.
