PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alarm device for an automobile for notifying that an engine can not be started because a filler lid is opened in the automobile provided with an erroneous starting prevention function when the filler lid is opened. SOLUTION: When the filler lid is opened when fuel is filled, an input terminal 8 of a lid switch 1 and a second contact 10 are short-circuited. When an engine key switch 6 is made into an energizing state in this state, current is supplied to a warning light 5 from a battery 7 via the engine key switch 6 and the lid switch 1 and the warning light 5 is turned on. Since a first contact 9 of the lid switch 1 is not short-circuited with the input terminal 8, an exciting coil 2 of an electromagnetic relay 4 is not energized and a relay contact 3 is opened. Therefore, even if a key 21 is turned up to a start position, current is not supplied from the battery 7 to a starter 18 via the engine key switch 6 and the engine is not started.
