PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carriage driver which can drive a carriage inexpensively by lowering the current level of the drive source and drive circuit of the carriage. SOLUTION: The carriage driver comprises a carriage 1 moving reciprocally while mounting a recording head removably, and a guide shaft 2 for guiding movement of the carriage 1 wherein a coil spring 11 is disposed at the end of moving range of the carriage 1.
