PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the earth pressure stability of a retaining wall block filled with crushed stones inside to allow the growth of plants. SOLUTION: A body part 2 of this retaining wall block is so constituted that connecting walls 6 are projected forward from a rear wall 5 and that front walls 7 extend from the tips of the connecting walls so as to be open. A surface plate 3 is stuck to the front walls with an adhesive. The front walls are lower than the rear wall, so that a gap is formed between the vertically adjacent front walls when the blocks are piled. Both faces of each connecting wall is provided with grooves for fitting a partition plate so as to be able to partition a space surrounded by the front and rear walls, in two front and rear spaces. In the case earth pressure is high, the partition plate is fitted between the grooves, and body filling concrete is placed in the rear space, while the front space is filled with stones.
