PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compression self-ignition engine 100 reducing exhaust of an unburnt component even if fuel of a lean state is self-ignited, having high efficiency and reducing NOx. SOLUTION: This compression self-ignition engine 100 for burning the fuel by self-ignition by compressing intake fresh air by a piston 4 in a combustion chamber 11, has in the combution chamber a heat accumulating member 15 for imparting heat to the intake fresh air by accumulating heat generated by combustion in the combustion chamber 11.
