The turbocharger control system an exhaust gas flow control mechanism (30,31,40,42), which surrounds the turbine rotor (28) and is connected with the exhaust gas inlet opening, and controls the connection between the exhaust gas inlet opening (26) and the turbine rotor in a first rpm region of the engine. A bypass duct (50) is connected with the exhaust gas inlet opening and the exhaust gas outlet opening (29). In addition a bypass valve (60;160) arranged in the bypass duct, which controls the connection between the exhaust gas inlet opening and the exhaust gas outlet opening in a second rpm range of the engine.
