PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shutter device for a camera contributing to the miniaturi zation of camera by saving the space and having an error detection means which can be easily assembled. SOLUTION: This shutter device for a camera is provided with shutter blades 32 and 33 freely moving between a closing position where a shutter aperture 41 is covered and a maximum opening position where the aperture 41 is totally opened, a shutter driving lever 34 moving the blades 32 and 33 toward the maximum opening position by rocking them in an opening direction and moving the blades 32 and 33 toward the closing position by rocking them in a closing direction, a solenoid 36 rocking the lever 34 in the opening direction by energizing and rocking the lever 34 in the closing direction by interrupting energizing, and a controller 60 controlling the energizing time of the solenoid 36 and adjusting the opening time of the blades 32 and 33. The malfunction of the solenoid 36 is detected based on the supply power source voltage value of a shutter driving circuit 69 having the solenoid 36.
