PURPOSE: A chlorine introducing method and apparatus capable of mixing a suitable amount of chlorine gas after measuring the concentration of chlorine gas to be mixed into water in a distributing reservoir in real-time are provided. Whereby, back flushing of water is prevented during exhaustion of chlorine gas, a power failure and the abnormal operation of equipment and extends the service life thereof. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises: a liquified chlorine supply means(1); a flow meter(13); a concentration detecting sensor(23) for measuring the concentration of chlorine in a distributing reservoir(8); an automatic control valve(12); a pump(7) mounted at one side of the distributing reservoir; an injector(11) for preventing back flushing of water; and a controller(30) for controlling the automatic control valve and equipment according to the supply amount of chlorine gas and the chlorine concentration of the distributing reservoir. The method comprises: judging whether or not introduction of water after reading the measured value of the flow meter; reading the trajectory value of the automatic control valve from memory; judging whether or not input of the trajectory value; and controlling the amount of chlorine to be introduced.
