PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hexagonal boron nitride sintered compact sufficiently densified by addition of a sintering aid in an amount so as not to deteriorate characteristics of hexagonal boron nitride essentially possessed and without forming excessively strong bonding between the interface of hexagonal boron nitride and an added material even at high temperatures. SOLUTION: This sintered compact is obtained by sintering a powder mixture having 75-96.5 mass % of the hexagonal boron nitride, 3-20 mass % of boron and 0.5-5 mass % of carbon so as to provide the total amount with 100% or a powder mixture having 75-97 mass % of the hexagonal boron nitride and 3-25 mass % of the boron so as to provide the total amount with 100% in a nitrogen atmosphere or an atmosphere of one kind of inert gas selected from the group consisting of argon, krypton and xenon by pressurization sintering method. |
