PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymerization method for producing a polymer by a radical polymerization by which the polymer having a narrow molecular weight distribution and containing small amounts of low molecular products is provided, and further to provide the polymer. SOLUTION: This polymerization method is characterized in that when polymerizing a radical-polymerizable monomer, a specific tertiary phosphine is used as a chain transfer agent. The polymer is also provided.
