PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time for performing the automatic adjusting operation of adjusting parts such as variable gain amplifiers 23, 24; 26, etc., prior to the reproducing operation of a disk 1. SOLUTION: Each control of focusing and tracking operations of an optical pickup 2 is performed by circuits 20, 30, 31 and also by data processing circuits 16-18 for the output from the optical pickup 2, and when the mounted disk 1 is in just the state not pulled out from a loading/unloading port, a partial adjustment mode is attained for automatically adjusting the remaining adjusting part excluding a part of the adjusting part 16 which is not adjusted, among all of the plural adjusting parts 23, 24; 26; 16, etc. When the disk is once taken out from the loading/unloading port and the same or different disk is again loaded, an entire adjustment mode is carried out for automatically performing the automatic adjusting operation of all of plural adjusting parts. Further, a non-adjustment mode is selectable such as no adjusting operation is performed for the adjusting parts.
