PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce iron loss by alleviating centralization of magnetic flux at the stator end of a vernier motor. SOLUTION: This vernier motor satisfies the relationship of R=S+p or R=S-p among R, S and p under the condition where a cylindrical rotor 3A in which the magnetic poles 5 of N and S poles are alternately allocated along the circumferential direction of external circumference and the number of magnetic poles is R and a cylindrical stator 10A which is concentrically allocated at the external side of the rotor 3A via the air gap to include S small tooth 4a opposing to the magnetic pole 5 and hold multi-phase coil 2 of the number of pole pairs p among the tooth 4a are provided. With reference to the center line C of small teeth 4a crossing the rotating shaft of the rotor 3A in the right angle, the distance between a part or the entire part in the front and rear sides of the small tooth 4a along the rotating direction of the rotor 3A and the magnetic pole 5 is set longer than the distance between the small tooth 4a and magnetic pole 5 at the area near the center line C.
