The ink jet print head according to this invention comprises: a plurality of nozzles; a plurality of electrothermal transducers provided one for each of the plurality of nozzles, the electrothermal transducers being adapted to eject ink supplied into the nozzles when energized; an energization start means to start energizing the electrothermal transducers; a voltage detection means to detect a voltage applied to the electrothermal transducers after starting the energization; and an energization stop means to stop the energization of the electrothermal transducers according to the voltage detected by the voltage detection means.
