PURPOSE: A color wheel device and an optical projecting system using the same are provided to improve the light efficiency two or three times than an image projection system using a color wheel divided into four sections in spite of using a single color wheel. CONSTITUTION: An optical projecting system using a color wheel device includes a lamp(77) for generating white light, a color wheel(80) for extracting red light, green light and blue light simultaneously from the white light, a display element(86) for displaying images by the incident light from the color wheel, a projection optical unit(88) for expanding and projecting the images of the display element, and a polarization prism(84) for guiding the incident light from the color wheel to the display element according to the polarization characteristics and guiding the incident light from the display element to the projection optical unit according to the polarization characteristics, wherein the color wheel includes a color filter(80A) mounted rotatably for simultaneously extracting the red, green and blue light, and a reflection plate(80B) mounted facing the color filter for reflecting the incident light toward the color filter. |
