PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that a conventional digital signal processing unit cannot have normally conducted processing such as data quantity reduction when a packet includes an error in the case of processing an MPEG 2 transport stream packet so as to conduct the processing such as data quantity reduction. SOLUTION: The digital signal processing unit is provided with a header analysis section that detects presence of an error from a header of a transmitted MPEG 2 transport stream packet, a switch that selects an input destination of the MPEG 2 transport stream packet on the basis of the detection result of the presence of the error by the header analysis section, and a data quantity reduction section that reduces the data quantity of the MPEG 2 transport stream packet data section on the basis of the result of detection of the presence of the error by the header analysis section. The digital signal processing unit generates the recorded MPEG 2 transport stream packet from data outputted from the switch or data outputted from the data quantity reduction section on the basis of the result of detection of the presence of the error by the header analysis section.
