The roller is for winding up and unwinding a road vehicle safety belt. It has a frame (10) in which a belt spool (12) is rotatably located, a torsion bar (18) inside the spool and non-rotatably connected with one axial end to the spool, a stop disc (20) non-rotatably connected to the other end of the torsion bar, and a stop gearing (22). A stop catch (24) can be controlled in the gearing of the stop disc. The stop disc is provided with a bond (26), which can locate on the frame of the belt roller. The belt spool has two flanges (14,16), which define between them a space for accommodating the safety belt. The bond is arranged between one of the flanges of the spool and the frame of the roller.
