PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable correct automatic copying welding by excluding the influence of thermal strain generated when welding. SOLUTION: The visualization head 9 of a weld zone visualization device which has been set so that a molten pool and the status of the peripheral part of the molten pool during welding can be visualized as the pictures of a monitor 7 is mounted on a self-traveling system welding head. By calculating with a computing element 11 the picture data of a weld zone from the front in the welding direction, which picture data are sent to the monitor 7, the quantityΔP of a positional deviation between the molten pool 6 and the position of welding is found. By giving a control command from a controller 12 to the travel drive part of the welding head 2 according to the quantityΔP of the positional deviation, the moving direction is controlled.
