PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garbage treating device which has desirable appearance and educational effect and imparts fun to persons of the advanced age. SOLUTION: Soil is housed in an outer frame (1), a first container (3), a second container (5) and a third container (7), respectively and the first container is made to stand by. The second container is embedded into the soil in the outer frame in the state of exposing the upper part of the second container and earthworms are made to live in the soil in the second container. Plants, such as flowers and vegetables, are cultured in the soil in the third container and the third containe is freely removably placed as a weight on the second container. The garbage to be treated is suitably thrown into the second container and in the second container, the garbage is degraded by the microorganisms in the soil and is ingested by the earthworms, by which the garbage is treated. In succession, the first container, the second container and the third container are successively replaced with each other.
