PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus that can realize improvement of the image quality of an entire system and reduction in the power consumption. SOLUTION: A quantization bit number of an analog/digital converter 8 is revised depending on the image quality mode selected by a photographer so as to reduce the power consumption of a digital signal processing circuit 9. In this case, the processing bit number of the digital signal processing circuit 9 is selected to be the same as the revised bit number of the analog/digital converter.
