PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical magnetic recording head for performing magnetic recording in a very small area by integrating a semiconductor laser and a magnetic head, and using an optical assist effect. SOLUTION: This magnetic recording device is provided with a semiconductor light emission element, a ferromagnetic body and a distortion generating means, and records magnetic information in the recording medium by reducing the coercive force of a recording part by heating and increasing the temperature of a recording medium by a light emitted from the semiconductor light emission element, and by applying a recording magnetic field from the vary small magnetic body to the recording part of the reduced coercive force. Distortion is provided to the ferromagnetic body by the distortion generating means to change the magnetizing direction of the ferromagnetic body by a reverse magnetic distortion effect, and thus the magnetic information is recorded.
