PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plural-wavelength synthesizing element which synthesizes plural laser light beams different in wavelength into a single light beam, its method, a method for manufacturing the element and an optical pickup using these. SOLUTION: The plural-wavelength synthesizing element 1 is composed of a uniaxial crystal plate and is provided with the optical axis of 45 degrees to both surfaces of the plates. Plural right sources emitting plural laser light beams different in wavelength are arranged so that plural laser light beams become parallel on the same plane and moreover polarization planes of the laser light beams become orthogonal or parallel to the same plane. The plural- wavelength synthesizing element 1 is arranged orthogonally to the laser light beam on the optical path of the laser light beam so that the optical axis becomes parallel to the same plane. Plural laser light beams different in wavelength are synthesized into the single light beam by adjusting the interval of plural light sources so that the laser light beams made incident on the plural- wavelength synthesizing element 1 go out from the plural-wavelength synthesizing element 1 on the same optical path.
