An object (85) to be transferred supported by an object supporting means (40 ) is displaced vertically while varying the orientation of the object (85) without moving a mover (10) by turning the supporting means (40) about a longitudinal axis (39) through a rotary operating means (30). Since the trav el distance is not required to displace the object (85) vertically, processing part (processor) of the object (85) can be reduced in length and size. Furthermore, various kinds of processing can be carried out smoothly and suitably without producing any adverse effect on the surroundings by varying the orientation of the object (85).
