摘要 Staple fiber yarn is wound on an open-end spinning machine at constant yarn speed using stepped precision winding. The steps in winding ratio (bobbin revolutions per double traverse) are <= 0.3 and are chosen so that the change in yarn crossing angle within any step is less than /!0.8 deg but also large enough to ensure that the smallest number of rhombi in the yarn pattern that can occur during the build are completely filled. The method of calculating the optimum steps in winding ratio using a step factor is given in detail. Preferred Features: The variation in yarn crossing angle within a step is less than /!0.5 deg . An additional correction is applied to the first step of the build. The step factor is between 0.02 and 0.05 and the number of rhombi is not greater than 50.
