Method for the maintenance of a constant mixture ratio in the intermittent supply of a secondary medium into a dimensionally varying volume flow of a primary medium and device for carrying it out. A constant predetermined mixture ratio is intended to be automatically maintained in a way which is procedurally simple and reliable in the case of a varying primary medium flow. The primary medium flow is measured via a standardised signal (Aqp) and compared with a standardised signal (At) as a measure of the delivery time of the secondary medium. The two standardised signals are so matched to one another, that at the maximum primary medium flow, secondary medium is delivered in continuous operation. At lower primary medium flow, interruptions of the secondary medium delivery take place. The novel method can advantageously be applied in the additive mixing of fragrances.
