PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved covering structure for the front edge of a side plate of a piece of furniture such as a bookshelf which does not deterio rate appearance and gives a quality feel to the furniture, when plural pieces of furniture are adjacently laid or a piece(s) of furniture is laid close to a station ary article such as a wall, pillar etc. SOLUTION: The covering structure relates to the one for covering the front edges of side plates 5 and 5 of two pieces of furniture laid side by side with each other. A covering material 7 is detachably placed on the front edges of the side plates 5 and 5 in a way that the covering material is placed across the front edge of the side plate 5 of one of the furniture and that of the other furniture laid next to the former furniture so as to cover the front edges of both of the side plates 5 and 5.
