A filter panel is shown and described for a filter screen unit used to scree n solids from water and wastewater. The filter panel includes a frame and a non- metallic insert. The insert is preferably one-piece, can be snapped into place in the frame, and is replaceable without the need to remove the frame from the filter screen unit .
