PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem where a shadow mask is subjected to thermal expansion, when a color picture tube is operated, causing a whole frame to be moved to the direction of a tube axis, to generate shifting of an electron beam and decrease color purity due to mislanding. SOLUTION: A panel 11 and the frame 3 are held by a plurality of elastic supports 6, so that a screen 14 and the shadow mask 4 are opposed to each other. Each of the plurality of elastic supports 6 consists of a long-axis elastic support 6a, provided on a pair of long-axis supports 1 and a short-axis elastic support 6b provided on a pair of short-axis supports 2, with the short-axis elastic support 6b, having a spring constant smaller than the spring constant of the long-axis elastic support 6a.
