摘要 The exhaust gas cleaner consists of a particle filter set in the exhaust line and in which the trapped particles are oxidized and eliminated by the filter temperature. When the exhaust gas flow is such that the quantity of particles contained in it is below the level at which they can be oxidized and eliminated, at least part of the exhaust gas is sent through the filter by-pass pipe. The exhaust gas cleaner consists of a particle filter set in the exhaust line and in which the trapped particles are oxidized and eliminated by the filter temperature. When the exhaust gas flow is such that the quantity of particles contained in it is below the level at which they can be oxidized and eliminated, at least part of the exhaust gas is sent through the filter by-pass pipe. The particles trapped by the filter are oxidized by an agent in the filter which gives off active oxygen, retaining it when there is excess oxygen in the environment and releasing it into the environment when the oxygen level there drops. The agent is e.g. an alkaline metal such as potassium, sodium, lithium, cesium or rubidium, an alkaline earth metal such as barium, calcium or strontium, a rare earth element such as lanthanum or yttrium, or a transitional metal. The system is controlled by a computer and sensors.
