PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seedling transplanter equipped with a device opening and shutting a transplanting claw in the direction orthogonal to a traveling direction of a machine, i.e., the longitudinal direction. SOLUTION: This seedling transplanter is equipped with a couple of beak-shaped claw bodies 12 installed so as to freely be opened and shut in the longitudinal direction at the bottom part of a seedling-receiving cylinder 10. The claw bodies 12 are then opened to the light and the left at a vicinity to the bottom dead point by connecting a retractable claw-opening rod 17 linked with a claw-rising and falling link 15 with a claw body-connecting shaft 13 through a claw link 18 and depressing the claw body- connecting shaft 13 downward with the claw-opening rod 17 while resisting to a towing spring 14. Furthermore, the claw bodies 12 under the up stroke are kept in the opened state by installing a timing cam 20 to a connecting shaft 19 connecting the claw- opening rod 17 with the claw link 18 and abrasively contacting a roller 22 installed at one end of the seedling-receiving cylinder 10 to the timing cam 20 to keep a distance between the connecting shaft 19 and the roller 22. Additionally, a furrow opener for opening a furrow on a planting surface at the top of a ridge and a ridging disk 5 for ridging to the root of the planted seedling are arranged at the back and forth of the claw bodies 12.
