A first plate is placed on top of a support and then pressed against this support over at least part of its length using one or more press devices. At least one further plate is oriented at the desired angle to the first plate and then pressed against it using one or more further press devices, after which the plates are welded together. An Independent claim is also included for the beam assembly apparatus.
