PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structural body to be the portion of a guard of a fireplace which can be lightened in tare without impairing a weight feeling and which can be manufactured easily and inexpensively. SOLUTION: Lateral walls 2 having an opening 21 are formed in the shape of U by connecting one side of a back wall 1 thereto. Mortar 3 is applied on the wall surfaces inside the back wall 1 and inside and outside the lateral walls 2, while a top board 4 and a base board 5 are provided between the two opposite lateral walls 2. The structural body to be the portion of the guard of the fireplace is completed by sticking a desired decorative material 6 to the portions of the mortar 3.
