PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To resolve the problem where it takes time a read an image pre- scanning is required before read of each of a color picture and a black-and-white image in the case that automatic density adjustment is applied to read the same document as the color image and the black-and-white image with respect to a scanner provided with an automatic density adjustment function which performs pre-scanning and performs image processing to set white as the foundation level at the next scanning. SOLUTION: When automatic density adjustment based on pre-scanning is designated, prescanning operation is performed (S2). After prescanning, histograms of R, G, and B are acquired (S3), and foundation levels for color scanning and black-and-white scanning are calculated (S4). A table 2085 for a scanner image processing part is set according to a foundation skip value PeakBW for black-and-white scanning (S8). For example, the table is set as shown in Figure 26 if PeakBE=15, and the table is set as shown in Figure 27 if PeakBW=14, and a table is set according to a foundation skip value PeakCL for color scanning (S9). |
