PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To always control to timing in the manner that switching loss is minimum regardless of the level of output. SOLUTION: This fixing device is equipped with a 1st decision means 9 deciding timing that the applied voltage of a switching element 7 is lowered to 0 V, a 2nd decision means 8 deciding timing that 1/4 of the cycle of a resonance circuit elapses after the applied voltage of the element 7 is lowered to power source voltage, and a timing control means 10 controlling timing to turn on the element 7 in either timing decided by the 1st decision means or the 2nd decision means. Then, the induction heating of the fixing roller is performed by connecting the element 7 to the resonance circuit consisting of a heating coil 5 and a capacitor for resonance 6 and on/off-controlling the element 7 so that an AC current flowing to the coil 5 is controlled.
