PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a recorder comprising an access cover which can be opened/ closed above the scanning space of a carriage, and means for detecting opening/ closing of the access cover in which the interior of the recorder can be confirmed visually by opening the access cover when power is turned on and the printer is operating. SOLUTION: The recorder comprises an access cover 106 which can be opened/closed above the scanning space of a carriage 604, a cover switch 501 for detecting opening/closing of the access cover 106, and means for supporting the access cover 106 displaceably between a first position where closure of the cover switch 501 is detected and a second position where opening of the cover switch 501 is detected is further provided with means for holding the access cover 106 at a third position between the first and second positions where closure of the cover switch 501 is detected. |
