PURPOSE: To provide an elevator device having a rope guide mechanism capable of guiding a rope for a car and the movement control of C/W without applying a load to a hoistway or the like of the car in the elevator device in which the moving track of C/W is arranged on the back of the moving track of the car, and to provide an assembly method thereof. CONSTITUTION: This elevator device has a tower structure 20 installed at the upper ends of C/W guide rails 1a, 1b. The tower structure 20 supports a flat, thin hoisting machine 11, a first sheave 12, and a second sheave 13 within the hoistway so that they do not interfere with the moving track of the car 1. The tower structure 20 is supported in the upper parts of the C/W guide rails 1a, 1b.
