A buckle comprises a flat parallelogram shaped member with two long sides 10, 11 and two short sides 12, 13 each long side forming an acute angle with one of the short sides, a rectangular opening through the centre of said member, said opening having a first pair of opposed walls 14, 15 extending parallel to the short sides of said member and a second pair of opposed walls 16, 17 defining the width of said opening, and a pair of open-ended slots 18, 19 extending parallel to the short sides of the member, each slot being between one of the first pair of opposed walls and the corresponding adjacent short side. The open ends of the two slots face in opposite directions, one through side 11 and the other through side 10. The buckle is laced by passing a loop of the strap to be fastened through the central opening and slipping it over the free end of an arm 21, the other end of the strap being looped in the same manner to an arm 23. The sloping sides give added strength to the supported ends of arms 21, 23. |
