PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exactly fold a sheet or a sheet bundle at a predetermined position by not sliding a pricking plate against the sheet. SOLUTION: This sheet folding device is provided with a pair of sheet folding rotation bodies 57a, 57b for laying and receiving a sheet conveyed, and a sheet pricking means for pricking an intermediate portion of the sheet laid and supported on the sheet folding rotation bodies 57a, 57b by a sheet pricking member 55 and inserting the intermediate portion of the sheet between the sheet folding rotation bodies 57a, 57b. The sheet inserted between the sheet folding rotation bodies 57a, 57b is bent by a clamping and a rotation of the sheet folding rotation bodies 57a, 57b while conveying it. The sheet folding device is further provided with a slide stop means for inhibiting a slide of the sheet pricking member against the sheet at a portion of the sheet pricking member contacted with the sheet.
