PURPOSE: A control method for a damper clutch is provided to improve fuel efficiency by restricting abnormal fluctuation of engine rpm from excessive slip of a converter, and to extend the life span of an automatic transmission by improving the endurance of the damper clutch. CONSTITUTION: A damper clutch is composed of a travel state detecting unit(10) outputting an electric signal by detecting the travel state; a TCU(Transmission control unit)(20) deciding driving force condition at high speed traveling by receiving the electric signal from the travel state detecting unit, and outputting a duty control signal for varying the damper clutch direct connection range; and a driving unit(30) connecting or releasing the damper clutch according to the duty control signal from the TCU. Fuel efficiency is improved by restricting abnormal fluctuation of engine rpm from excessive slip of the torque converter.
