The invention relates to a process for separation of a phytosterol composition from pulping soap, including extraction from the soap of a creamy product using a mixture, containing ketone, selected from the group of general formula RCOR1, wherein R and R1 are alkyl groups, an aliphatic hydrocarbon, selected from C5-C10, and water, not containing alcohol, at a temperature of 25...150 degree C and purification of the said product with obtaining of the phytosterol composition. It is also claimed a phytosterol composition wherein the campesterol and stigmasterol total content constitutes at least 50% of the ?-sitosterol content, reducing concentration of the lipoprotein-cholesterol of low density into the serum.The effective therapeutic product proposed on base of the phytosterol composition may be used for prevention or treatment of primary and secondary dislipidemia and atherosclerosis.Claims: 12Fig.: 23
