PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the heating efficiency of a fixing roller, to shorten the rising time of heating and to form a horizontal nip. SOLUTION: This induction thermal fixing device is equipped with a fixing roller 1, a pressure roller 2, a coil 3 performing induction heating by giving AC magnetic field to the roller 1, a temperature detection means 8 detecting the temperature of the roller 1, and a control means controlling the temperature of the roller 1 by applying an AC current to the coil 3 and controlling the AC current based on the detected temperature. In the fixing device, the coil 3 is arranged to cover over the outer periphery of the roller 1 and maintain a specified gap, and the roller 1 set so that the heating efficiency obtained by the magnetic coupling of the coil 3 with the roller 1 may be >=80% is constituted of a core bar, an elastic layer, a heating layer and a mold-released layer and the heating layer is a continuous pipe-shaped metal whose thickness is 20 to 200μm, then the roller 2 is constituted of a core bar, an elastic layer and a mold-released layer.
