PURPOSE: A method for confirming state of facsimile connected with a private switchboard is provided to enable a user of an extension of private switchboard to easily confirm a state of transmitting or receiving of a fax by performing a mutual information exchange between an inter-phone and a main control unit of the private switchboard connected with the fax. CONSTITUTION: The first process(S10,S20) selects an inter-phone and requests a specific fax. The second process(S30,S40) presses a line state function key and inputs a phone number of the selected inter-phone. The third process(S50,S60) keeps a watch on a state of fax line and classifies the state of fax line. A fourth(S70,S80) process transmits state information and updates the state information. The fifth process(S90,S100) retransmits the updated state information and ends the fax line. The fifth process(S110) transmits state end information.
