The system has an internal combustion engine (1) with several cylinders, a unit (12) to switch off part of the cylinder during underloading and an electric machine (4) for active damping of rotation irregularities of the engine. The engine displays higher rotation irregularities in one or more rpm ranges with respect to the other rpm ranges when there is not rotation irregularity damping. The drive system is controlled so that at an operation with cylinders switched off in an rpm range with increased rotation irregularities, the electric machine (4) first acts as an active damper and after a recovery period, until the engine runs in the other rpm range, at least part of the cylinder is switched on again. An Independent claim is included for a method to operate the system. |
