A latching bar 4 for one or more operating keys 8, e.g. of a tape recorder, is moved to latching position, against the action of a spring 5, on depression of an operating key through an intermediate resilient member and is cammed in the opposite direction to release the operated key by a release key 9. As shown, each intermediate member is a slide 13 loaded by a compression spring but it may be a blade spring carried by, and arranged at an angle to, the latching bar. The latching bar has portions which move over or under projections 10 in the stems of the operating keys 8 to retain the keys in depressed or undepressed state. |
