PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable ridge mower which can safely and smoothly mow weeds, for example, even when a ground surface (the upper surface of a high ridge or a slope) is a soft foundation or a largely uneven waste land, and can effectively reduce the labor of a worker. SOLUTION: This portable mower for ridges, comprising a cutting blade (10), an engine (31) for driving the cutting blade (10), shield covers (11, 12) for partially or wholly covering the cutting blade (10), a handle (50) connected to the shield covers (11, 12) is characterized by disposing grounding members (21, 22) capable of sliding on the ground surface on the shield covers (11, 12), supporting the tip portion (53a)-near portions of the handle (50) on the shield covers (11, 12) in a vertically swingable state, and pulling coil springs 60 for pulling the tip portions (53a) of the handle (50) in the forward side (F).
