PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camshaft with improved durability and reliability by forming plural cams different in mode of contacting a counter member to have characteristics according to the contact mode. SOLUTION: This camshaft is provided with plural cams different in mode of contacting a counter member, and a first cam 3 brought into sliding contact with the counter members 5, 6 and a second cam 4 brought into rolling contact with the same. The first cam 3 is formed by conducting surface treatment for giving scuffing resistance for a pitching resisting sintered alloy, and the second cam 4 is formed by pitching resisting sintered alloy or pitching resisting steel subjected to quench-and-temper treatment.
