PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder that can take relief action on misrecognition of a main broadcast program block and a CM block. SOLUTION: When reception of a broadcast signal is started, a tuner 5 detects one change point of audio attribute of the broadcast signal or more and extracts broadcast blocks of a broadcast program sectioned by each change point from the broadcast signals. Referencing the audio attribute of an audio signal in the extracted broadcast block can discriminate whether each broadcast block is a main broadcast program block or a CM block. On the other hand, when obtaining a VOB consisting of multiplexed video and audio streams by encoding the video stream and the audio signal included in the extracted broadcast block, a video recording control section 7 generates a VOBI denoting whether a video object obtained by multiplexing corresponds to the main broadcast program or the CM block and records the VOBI to a DVD-FROM with the VOB.
